A. The primary focus of the BET Foundation is to assist African American women and families. Foundation programs provide information on health topics such as Obesity, Nutrition, Diabetes, Heart Disease and Stroke, Breast and Cervical Cancer, Depression and Mental Health and overall Fitness. The BET Foundation currently does not offer grants to the general public.
Q. Where are the signature programs for the BET Foundation?
A. Women’s Health Symposia, H.E.A.L. Academy and BET Summer Camp for Girls.
Q. How are Women’s Health Symposia tour cities selected?
A. Tour cities are selected using a combination of the U.S. Health and Human Services National Health Disparity data and local health issue data produced by state health departments.
Q. How are Symposiums organized in each city?
A. Each Symposium is managed by the BET Foundation corporate staff. A local host committee is utilized for the purpose of establishing direct contact with local communities. The host committee provides knowledge guidance to BET Foundation corporate staff.
Q. How is the Local Host Committee selected?
A. Individuals from health organizations, community groups, churches, and civic organizations are invited to serve on the committee.
Q. What is the time schedule of the Women’s Health Symposium?
A. Symposiums are always on a Saturday. Doors open at 7:00 a.m. Event ends at 5:00 p.m. We encourage attendees to arrive about 45 minutes early for the check-in process.
Q. What is the cost of BET Foundation events?
A. There is no cost to attend BET Foundation events, but you must be pre-registered to participate.

A. The preferred method to register is online a www.ahealthybet.com. A toll free registration number is also available at 866-356-7348.
Q. Will there be exhibitors and vendors?
A. Yes. Exhibitors and vendors will be a combination of free health screenings, health partners, corporate sponsors, and non-profits.
Q. Are volunteers needed for BET Foundation events?
A. Yes. Local host committees are responsible for coordinating volunteers per city.
