The BET Foundation Women's Health Symposium events are designed to provide African-American women with a wealth of information about how to embrace a healthier lifestyle and practical approaches for addressing various health concerns. Through a multi-faceted health promotion event, minority health disparities discussed include obesity, heart disease, diabetes, reproductive health, forms of cancers, depression, digestive care, women and clinical trials, nutrition and fitness. The multiple-day (8:00a-5:00p) event includes a kickoff reception the night before the symposium, special workshops/sessions for young women 18+, master fitness class, plenary sessions, concurrent workshops on special health topics, complimentary lunch and breakfast, special entertainment or master life coaching and free health screening. The event day concludes with a special live performance by a nationally known celebrity. The target audience is women 18+. Specific topics covered at Symposiums are: Obesity and Cardiovascular Diseases, Fitness, Nutrition and Digestive Healthcare, Living with Chronic Disease, Mental Health and Stress, Healthy Aging & fitness, Reproductive Health, Women & Clinical Trials, Integrative Approaches to Health, Health & Disability.
